Every year so far I have not made New Year resolutions. This year however, is different for many reasons. I feel like since graduating I have lost bits and pieces of myself along this rocky adulthood road. I have felt so tired after the long work days and my brain feels like it stops working. For 2016 instead of making resolutions of who I want to be, I want to re-evaluate my goals, and find myself again.
Here is my (abbreviated) list of goals
1.) Get back into the flow of me - This includes many things such as making art, creating projects, working out hard, gaining muscle, keeping tabs on things that inspire me, writing down artists, looking up artists, planning my future, and so on.
2.) Do more activities after work - Meaning more than just cooking dinner and watching netflix or browsing pintrest. This could be something as simple as going to the gym, or weaving, or something bigger like go to a show opening downtown. One activity to get something done and feel productive after work.
3.) Blog once a week - So far I have only been blogging once a month or so, only when I have some stuff to post. I want to come up with more posts, and write more down on the day to day.
4.) Weave more - Now that I got this table loom I don't think this will be difficult.
5.) Draw/Pattern every week - Besides all the drawing and pattern making I do at work. I miss making patterns and drawing just for me.
6.) Look into and apply to gallery shows and calls for entry - Did this all though college at the school, now its time to be a real artist in the outside world!
7.) Photograph more - My camera has not gotten enough action lately, its time to find my passion again and just go shoot.
8.) Travel - Besides work trips, Id like to do more location discovery in and around Texas while we are here.
9.) Make Jewelry - I have only tapped the surface of jewelry making so far, id really like to make more for others (and myself of course)!
10.) Sell some things at one of the many Dallas Markets/Fleas or Texas in general - I have been to many and I think some of the stuff I like to make would do well at these artsy walk throughs.
Ten solid goals to find myself again. Nothing unachievable, nothing unrealistic. Most are things I have done before that I can do again. I have already started goal number four with weaving! More on that next week.
