This year has been one for the books! As I have had my fair share of ups and downs, overall 2015 was very good to me. I travelled more this year than I have in most of my life, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Maryland Institute of Fine Art, and landed a job in Dallas Texas.
I brought in the New Year last year with Young Chan in California. We travelled around the Bay area and spent the new year (2015) in Napa Valley. Shortly after we drove down to LA and San Diego. We had a wonderful winter break and I was super positive for what 2015 had in store for me. I went back to school in Baltimore and to my job as the director of the fashion show. I spent the year making both fashion lines and preparing to graduate. The two weeks of both fashion shows were the most amazing time of my life. If you have not read about it already, you can find the work under the portfolios tab.
Shortly after the two shows, I started to hear back from some of the jobs I applied to. Specifically my current employer who ended up flying me out to Dallas during my senior thesis galley opening. I got the job and everything moved extremely quick after that. I graduated and packed up the car to leave Baltimore that same day. Young and I went back to my home town in Wisconsin, before starting out long drive to Texas. A couple days later… We were off to start our new life!
After the move and once we were settled the rest of our year flew by. Young and I found a nice apartment and spent almost every weekend thrifting, fleaing, and shopping for fun things we could fill our first apartment with. I travelled a lot too. First I went to Atlanta market in Georgia, which was awesome because I got to meet up with an old friend from school. Next I went to High Point Market in North Carolina, where I met Justina Blakeney (OMG)! Shortly after, I was in Beijing China. This was my second time Out of the country and in Asia. We had amazing food and I learned so much about the company. Young and I took a trip to New Orleans Louisiana sometime in between all the work trips. We caught up with a friend we used to go to college with. For Thanksgiving Young and I were in Las Vegas Nevada, another first for me. I liked it way more than I ever thought I would, thanks to appah (Mr. Kim) for taking us to TWO shows! For Christmas I went home to Wisconsin, and then back to Dallas for a very uneventful New Year's eve.
A year filled with firsts. A year filled with blood (all the sewing needle stabbings), Sweat (the fashion show nerves), and Tears (all the rejection emails for jobs applied too). But I took all of these bad experiences as an opportunity to learn and found more good than ever. I travelled to many new places, I have not stopped learning since graduation, and I have started a new life with the one I love. I am hoping for more travel, and growth this year, and am beyond excited to see what the next one has in store. Bring it on 2016!
