Its about that time to do the most basic thing... make those new year goals! I guess I should start with the goal I have already began...
One: Read at least one book a month. I have never been a reader, struggled to even do it for school. I must admit, I have not read a single book since I graduated in 2015. I probably did not finish any books completely senior year either. However after obsessing over at least 15 podcasts this last year, I have gathered a list of numerous book recommendations. I even read a book cover to cover traveling to Milwaukee from Dallas (the book I got my mother for Christmas). More on that later! I am interested in the topics of race, gender, and medicine, throwing in a little true crome just for fun! If anyone has suggestions feel free to send them my way.... im sure I have not read them haha!
Two: Professional Development. I hope to finally make an etsy. Id also like to add a page or two on this site with finished work ready to ship!
Three: Sales. Reaching out to as many local galleries and shops as possible to get three shows, and two stores to have my work.
Four: Spontaneity. Go on a spontaneous road trip, Camp, Car camp, take more weekend trips, explore the land of Texas, (find out why Texans are so obsessed with Texas).
Five: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. Clear out my closet with stuff I never wear, and making it into new clothes and other art projects.
Six: Volunteer. With my heart problems coming back, I would like to volunteer for an art therapist or at a hospital. I hope to show others how art has helped me through personal issues I cannot control or change.
Seven: Take a trip with my cousin. My cousin and I never see each other, but over the years I have learned that her and I are extremely alike. Both of our parents have been saying we need to take a trip together so this year I hope to make that happen!
Eight: Blog. At least twice a week I want to be here on this blog. It will probably turn more into a journal and include random thoughts, projects, ideas, and maybe even some book reviews.
Nine: Research. I want to do some more long term art projects. I want to research the topics and themes im working with to extend my work for longer periods of time. I spent the last year making as much as I could quick and simple. I just needed to get it back, but now I want to refine my practice.
Ten: Photography. This was on the 2016 list. It was one of the only goals I think I did poorly on. I need to get this skill back, since I lost it in 2015 when I centered all my attention to my new major and fashion.
Ten goals, ten new challenges, ten inspirations. Not as easy as last year but definitely doable with effort, focus, and a whole year for completion!
