For this months weaving challenge, the weaving kind extended our deadline to the end of May. So the last five weeks I have been working on my dyptic. For the past year I have been slowly building upon a series of weavings that study the juxtaposition of color and texture. I intend to vibrate the eye with many colors on top of colors, mixing and matching blends that look both visually appealing and not.
I have not considered one work consisting of two pieces for this series until this months challenge of creating a dyptic. I think this round I stayed safe and stuck with a similar color pallet. The work is harmonious, with complimentary blends of color. As I'm writing this, I think next time it could be cool to play with different color pallets to see how they play off of one another. What about three, or four? What would it do to the eye if there were ten small ones, or 20? The weaving kind April/May challenge was a good one. I think writing a little bit about it brought up some good questions and ideas for where to take this series of work. I am really anticipating next months challenge, and the questions that come with it!
