I have decided to finally fill up some of the dozens of sketchbooks I have collected over the many many years of art school and classes. I love buying and collecting them but have never truly filled one completely. All of my sketchbooks have something in them, but none of them are full.
After taking two weeks off from the 100 day project (for my heath and our big move), I have gotten back on board the makers train. A few Bristol pages and canvases of disappointment later, I decided to bring it back into the sketchbook to get out some textures and collaging. I want to drip, splash, stamp, cut, and squash! Whatever it takes to find a good flow, and fill up one of these little black books.
I have been burying myself in art and Young Chan has watched me for weeks now. Yesterday I asked to take a peak at his gouache collection that he has mentioned a time or two before but not in much detail. He brought out his big heavy canvas bag and when I opened it I thought I might scream! Young Chan has gone three years without telling me about his unbelievable gouache collection from Korea. I have never seen this much paint except at home depot! The bag did not have a bottom, the paint kept appearing! Last nights paint session was done with a smile on my face from ear to ear! I could not stop grinning. The photo above is just what I picked out to work with, there is probably 10-15 times that amount in the bag still.
Who wouldn't love to dip their brush into this stash!
With this new journey of sketch booking and a lifetime long goal of finally filling up every single page of a one, I think I might start a tab off my portfolio page of sketchbook work. Maybe I can post some video too. I can only brain storm for now until I actually complete a full book!
