For some fun inspiration highlights, I am super intrigued by layers of pattern, material, and translucencies. I have only just discovered the Multidisciplinary sculptor, Anna Laura Schlimm, but have become quickly obsessed with her treatment to textiles and use of overlapping!
I think she is smart in her placement of opposite textures and harsh cuts into garment work. There is also a play of geometrics with organic shapes, using texture in both her 3D Textile work and 2D Design.
Branching off Anna Laura Schlimm, I think Nadine Goepfert's work is a nice transition.
I have been inspired by Goepfert for quite some time now, but have only recently visited her website. Purposeful lines, innovative textures, and organic shapes broken by geometrics seems to be a common theme with these two artists. Use of textile made into wearable's is something id like to consider more carefully. I tend to make the textile for the garments, id like to make the garment itself a wearable textile/sculpture.
Keeping both Schlimm and Goepfert in the back of my mind, I want to explore more innovative textures with both my fiber work and sketchbook painting projects.
